Here are 6 things you should never tolerate at work:
- Harassment or bullying. This can take many forms, including verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, and unwelcome sexual advances. No one deserves to feel unsafe or uncomfortable at work. If you are experiencing harassment or bullying, report it to your supervisor,
- Discrimination. Discrimination is any treatment that is different or worse because of a person's race, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or sexual orientation. It is illegal and should not be tolerated. If you believe you are being discriminated against, report it to human resources or an equal employment opportunity commission.
- Unsafe working conditions. Your employer has a responsibility to provide a safe workplace for you. This includes providing proper training and safety equipment, and following all safety regulations. If you feel that your workplace is unsafe, report it to your supervisor or the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Unreasonable workload. It is important to have a healthy work-life balance. If you are constantly overloaded with work, you will eventually burn out. Talk to your supervisor about your workload and see if there is a way to delegate some of your tasks.
- Lack of respect. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their position in the company. If your boss or colleagues are constantly putting you down or making you feel like you are not valued, it is time to speak up or start looking for a new job.
- Lack of growth opportunities. If you feel like you are stuck in a dead-end job, it is time to start looking for new opportunities. Talk to your supervisor about your career goals and see if there are any opportunities for advancement within the company. If not, it may be time to start looking for a new job that will allow you to grow and develop your skills.
